How Parkland Heights Earned 3 Leafs (Water, Energy & Waste)
A single EnviroDevelopment Leaf is a significant achievment. To achieve 3 Leafs is outstanding. Here’s how they did it:
Water – Achieved a 20% reduction in mains water use and eliminated irrigation from mains water. Key measures included “Free Eco Water-Wise Landscaping” and free “Water Smart Information Sessions” for all land buyers.
- Energy –
Giving land buyers a $4000 cashback incentive on a 1.5kw Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic System, and free “Power Smart Information Sessions” are just two of the measures Parkland Heights is using to achieve a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas production across the entire development.
- Waste –
“In conjunction with Earthcare Recycling, Parkland Heights has created a Materials Recovery Centre – a recycling system where civil and builders’ waste can be re-used and recycled at rates well in excess of current industry standards in Western Australia.”* Free “Waste Smart Information Sessions” are also available for residents. These measures promote recycling and, critically, make recycling easy for residents – thereby reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
The Baldivis development is home to 1200 home sites and was previously a State Forest pine plantation.
