Taylor Burrell Barnett recently participated in this year’s City to Surf on Sunday, 29th August 2012 in memory of colleague Jake Davidson and to raise awareness about mental health. Fifteen staff members, family and friends participated in the 12km category, while another nine completed the 4km course.
Jake, a highly enthusiastic, fun, loveable and well-respected member of the TBB team, recently tragically lost his battle with depression. Jake’s energy, genuine kindness and good humour have been so dearly missed by those around him in the office since his passing. Jake was also a keen runner and would regularly run to and from the office each day. In light of Jake’s fondness for running, the City to Surf was seen as fitting event by which to remember Jake and the positive impact he had at TBB and the planning and land development industry in general.
In addition to raising awareness about mental health, the TBB participants also raised funds for beyondblue, which is a national, independent, not-for-profit organisation and a bipartisan initiative of the Australian, state and territory governments. beyondblue’s work is aimed at achieving an Australian community that understands depression and anxiety, empowering all Australians, at any life-stage, to seek help. beyondblue raises awareness, reduces stigma and ensures people have access to the information they need to support recovery, management and resilience.
