The Herdsman-Glendalough area has high strategic importance as part of Perth’s “second CBD”, along with the adjoining Stirling City Centre. Not only is it a large employment area, it is also the largest bulky good retail strip in Australia.
With a focus on integrating land use and transport, Taylor Burrell Barnett is leading an expert team in preparing a structure plan for the area.
A Vision for Transit-Oriented Development
The vision, which is being formulated in close consultation with community and government stakeholders through workshops, is to encourage transit oriented development near the Glendalough train station and along the route of the proposed light rail system along Scarborough Beach Road.
The plan will incorporate significant opportunities for mixed use development, business, retail and light industry in an upgraded public realm with safe and attractive access to public transport.
The statutory structure plan is likely to be finalized during 2014
