TBB has been commissioned to provide a catalyst vision for the future – Development Area 6.
Development Area 6 is a strategically important region at the interface between the City of Belmont and the Perth Airport Authority Ltd. Not only is the area a convenient walking distance to the Airport and a short drive or bus trip to the CBD, the Swan River and the Swan Valley, it is also crossed by the alignment of the Perth Airport Rail link.
Given its unique ‘gateway’ location and land use potential, the project provides an array of redevelopment opportunities. Of course, these opportunities go hand in hand with a range of complex issues. To address these issues, TBB is leading an expert team and has engaged the services of other consultants to assist us, including ARUP for Services and Transport, Colliers International for market appraisal and Paul Jones of Jones Coulter Young for design advice.
TBB are also running Visioning Workshops to garner the local knowledge of the community and stakeholders. Our goal is to create an attractive and innovative plan for a transit oriented development vision retaining the village feel and mature landscape of the area.
The Vision Plan will be supported by an Implementation Strategy which identifies the next steps in any future development planning.
DA6 is approximately 174 hectares in area, of which approximately 105 hectares is land under jurisdiction of Perth Airport, with the remainder under the planning control of the City of Belmont and the State. For this reason, The Vision will inform not only the City’s Statutory Structure Plan, but also the Airport’s Master Plan, both of which will be developed during 2014.
