Samantha Thompson, Director at TBB, has been selected for the new UDIA WA Liveability Strategic Committee.
In 2021, the UDIA WA Council endorsed a revised governance structure to ensure structural strategic alignment throughout the organisation and this included three new Strategic Committees being formed - economic, environment and livability. After a nomination process, Samantha Thompson was successfully appointed to the Liveability committee.
The objectives of the Strategic Liveability Committee include:
- Ensure and maintain a sufficient supply of housing to suit the needs of our current and future committees;
- Encourage the facilitation of greater housing choice by fostering innovation in housing tenure, typologies and construction methodologies;
- Educate the community on the benefits of increased housing choice. Encourage land use planning and associated regulatory reform to enhance liveability; and
- Ensuring the communities and well served and benefit
Samantha is looking forward to the opportunity to work collaboratively with like-minded industry leaders to work out how to deliver housing to support the next generation of growth while fostering sustainable and equitable communities.
My vision for the future is to ensure we as planners are able to use data and technology to more efficiently identify and measure the urban problems we are trying to solve, apply appropriate technologies at appropriate scale to validate and provide evidence to support the principles behind smart growth/cities and adjust policy settings to respond accordingly. - Samantha Thompson
