Our planning experts have been at the forefront of renewables projects for years, but most recently, we've been leading the way in delivering approvals for new battery storage systems, which are essential to speed up the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy.
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) work by absorbing electricity when it's abundant on the power grid and sending excess power back to the grid when it's most needed, such as during the evening after the sun sets and solar energy fades away. One of our latest projects in the Shire of Northam provided a complementary and supporting role to the South West Interconnected System. Learn more about this BESS project here.
Energy storage in regional towns gives more people the opportunity to install rooftop solar and safeguardes the reliable supply of electricity to communities by increasing the network hosting capacity.
At TBB we've been privileged to be a part of the significant phase of growth and innovation happening for renewables in Western Australia. From working at the early stage on project feasibility all the way through to development approvals and implementation, our team are across the planning framework. We've also been advocating for ways the WA Government and more specifically, the planning system, can best capture the opportunities in this space.
