At this month's National Road Safety Week, the Maylands Revitalisation project was awarded a High Commendation from the Main Roads WA Managing Director.

This Main Roads WA project was a result of working closely with the community and stakeholders to develop a masterplan for road, path and streetscape upgrades that has the potential to enhance the Maylands town centre and encourage further growth and development.

Together with transport planner Tim Judd from PJA, and the landscape team at ASPECTS Studio, TBB's healthy streets expert, Eric Denholm was commissioned to lead a streetscape revitalisation concept plan for four key streets in the Maylands Town Centre. Eric and Tim also worked with Lucy Saunders, the founder of Healthy Streets in the UK, to formulate the approach, prepare Design Check performance assessments of existing and proposed concepts, conduct workshops and present the findings.

Main Roads WA nominated the Maylands Project for the Road Safety Managing Director Award which commends employees and teams who contributed to road safety developments, upholding the cause through new policies or developments.
