Taylor Burrell Barnett is proud to have supported the DPLH in the preparation and approval of the recently approved Mandogalup Improvement Scheme.
The Mandogalup Improvement Scheme is a pivotal project that lays the foundation for the sustainable development of a strategically important area in the City of Kwinana. In November 2024, the State Government approved an Improvement Scheme for Mandogalup, bringing surety to local landowners and laying the groundwork for the future development of the area.
Spanning 330 hectares, the site is located just 25 km south of Perth’s CBD and is bordered by the Kwinana Freeway, Rowley Road, Anketell Road, and the Kwinana Industrial Area. Its proximity to major transport routes, industrial hubs, and the future Westport container port highlights its significance as a key economic and infrastructure asset.
As the lead consultant, Taylor Burrell Barnett coordinated a multidisciplinary team to prepare technical assessments, analyse site constraints and opportunities, and design land use scenarios for the area. The planning process was underpinned by extensive community and stakeholder engagement, including workshops and open days, ensuring transparency and alignment with local values. This collaborative approach informed the development of a preferred industrial land use scenario, alongside detailed Improvement Scheme provisions, land use plans, and technical reports.
The Mandogalup site presents both challenges and opportunities, with existing rural uses, environmental assets such as wetlands, and infrastructure considerations like the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. TBB’s work has balanced these factors to create a vision for orderly and efficient development that respects the area’s unique characteristics.
The approval of the Mandogalup Improvement Scheme marks a significant milestone, providing a clear statutory framework to guide future land use and development. It paves the way for the area to evolve into a well-planned precinct that supports Western Australia’s economic growth while preserving its environmental and community values.
This project reflects TBB’s commitment to innovative and collaborative planning that drives positive outcomes for our clients and the broader community.
