our approach
We use collective conversations to shape better communities.
Collective Conversations is about using the power of communication to create great outcomes. We get people talking to people in an exciting, collaborative environment. This includes tapping into a network of the most creative experts, opening the doors to key policy and decision-makers, and informing and listening to the community through meaningful engagement.
In everything we do we bring an inherent understanding of global and local trends, commercial drivers, government priorities and stakeholder considerations. This, combined with understanding our clients unique requirements, leads to carefully considered strategies, effective decision making and tangible outcomes.
We have a comprehensive team of creative, experienced urban planners and designers all with the collective knowledge essential for planning and implementing successful projects. In addition to working collaboratively with stakeholders and peers, our approach to major design and strategic planning projects is to draw upon the knowledge and ideas of our best people through an internal design challenge process, which constantly interrogates convention and reveals fresh ideas.
We work with you all the way through a project – consulting, advising and engaging from due diligence and early concept to finished development. Click below to learn more about our services.

our vision
We lead industry and the community to shape exceptional places in WA and beyond.
our purpose
We shape exceptional places where communities prosper and people belong.
our history
We’ve been shaping Western Australia for more than 50 years.
In 1970, Taylor Burrell Barnett was founded on the premise of putting footprints on places which would become an integral part of WA’s growth story. 50 years on, we’ve had a hand in many of WA’s most recognisable developments, and in the process cemented a valued custodial relationship with our state.
We have seen the change; we have been a part of the change; indeed, we have led much of that change. Our legacy is one of continued development of community and place creation through collaborative and innovative town planning.
You can discover more about Taylor Burrell Barnett’s role in the planning and urban design landscape over the past five decades in our digital 50th Anniversary Book.
our inspiration
Expert people make exceptional places.
It’s the people who make a place, so we work with the most imaginative and pioneering experts in the industry. We are genuine, energetic and progressive and we love that our work contributes to inspired environments where communities thrive.
We look to international best practice for influence and inspiration. We’re agile and think outside the box, taking successful and sustainable elements of projects abroad, and applying these to the needs of the WA landscape.
work with us
Help to create better communities.
Planning gives us ability to influence the quality of our community. We don’t take the responsibility lightly. To make sure we continue to be the best at what we do, professional development, inquisitiveness and creativity are encouraged, aspirations are nurtured and everyone’s opinion counts.
We love our work. Our team are driven by the knowledge that they are contributing to the creation and growth of sustainable and liveable places.
