b'Unlocking the states north Through the preparation of Schemes and Local Planning Strategies, TBB continues to play an important role in shaping the towns of the Pilbara, Kimberley and Gascoyne regions, for the City of Karratha, Town of Port Hedland, Shire of East Pilbara, Shire of Ashburton, Shire of Wyndham - East Kimberley, Shire of Exmouth and Shire of Shark Bay. It is no doubt that TBBs reputation and legacy in the Pilbara has lead us to be the planning consultants of choice in the region today, with current and ongoing work in Karratha, Wickham, Dampier, Paraburdoo, Tom Price, Exmouth, Shark Bay, Carnarvon, Broome and Port Hedland.Today, our reach extends much further to places like Geraldton, where TBB have a strong relationship with the growth of the Regional Centre, including planning for a population of 52,000 by 2031 and, beyond that, an aspirational target of 100,000 people in the City of Greater Geraldton, through the preparation and on-going review of its Local Planning Strategy.Exmouth Marina - Novatel ResortTBB has a long history of providing services to the regions, including planning and designing new towns and expanding towns across WA and overseas. There arent many towns that TBB, or its founding partners, havent left their mark on. TBBs role in developing Pilbara towns stems back to its beginnings 50 years ago and extends to today. Karratha, Paraburdoo and Wickham were all planned and developed in the late 60s and early 70s soon after Rio Tintos first iron ore mine, Mount Tom Price Mine, opened in 1966.Karratha, a former pastoral station, began to develop as a town in 1969 (the same year Bill joined the practice with Russel), followed by Wickham in 1971 and Paraburdoo in 1972.I recall in 2008, when I first started working on the expansion of Wickham town site for Rio Tinto to support the increased iron ore export capacity at the Cape Lambert Port, Bills stories on the planning of the original town. Some 40 to 50 years on, TBB is back planning for the next major expansion phases of Wickham, Tom Price and Paraburdoo. Rachel Chapman Canarvon Fascine Structure Plan for LandCorp in 199424'
