LEX BARNETT | Managing Director 

Lex has 38 years of experience in both government and private practice. He is an industry-leader in the pursuit of better standards of governance and stronger relationships between government planners, regulators and developers. A strong advocate for professional integrity and leadership in private practice, he instills these values in the firm’s corporate culture day to day, and through his long standing involvement in the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA).


BEN DE MARCHI | Director, Design

Ben has 18 years of town planning and urban design expertise. He has led the design team at Taylor Burrell Barnett since 2008. Having grown up in Broome, Ben’s sensibilities of people being connected to place through culture, values, atmosphere, environment and settlement form were advanced at Oxford Brookes and have become intrinsically woven into his approach to the creation and improvement of places throughout Western Australia. Ben offers significant skills and experience in the design and implementation of residential community projects.


SAMANTHA THOMPSON | Director, Planning Frameworks 

Samantha is committed to seeking community and stakeholder outcomes as key elements of project deliverables and to ensure project implementation delivers on creating quality environments where people live, work, learn and play. Samantha’s experience in the private sector has provided her with the knowledge of leading design principles, approval processes and implementation strategies.


RACHEL CHAPMAN | Director, Implementation & Delivery 

Rachel’s work includes some of our most substantial land development projects in both Perth Metropolitan and Country Regions. Rachel has a keen interest in planning for the Regions and continues to pursue this interest with passion at Taylor Burrell Barnett; this has seen her work on significant townsite expansion projects in and around Lancelin, Denham, Wickham, Tom Price & Paraburdoo, as well as major development proposals in Karratha, Dampier and Broome.


KAREN HYDE  |  Senior Associate, Conversations 

Karen is a Chartered Town Planner with a wealth of strategic and statutory planning and economic development experience in private sector consulting and government. She has over 30 year’s experience in Western Australia and the UK. Karen’s fundamental understanding of strategic planning and its relationship to economics and growth, combined with extensive international experience has enabled her to sustain senior executive positions in consulting and strategic advice in government.


MARK BANCROFT  |  Senior Associate, Urban Designer

Mark is well experienced in statutory and strategic planning, urban design, and community consultation. Over the past 26 years Mark has worked on a wide range of significant and complex land development projects that have involved balanced coordination of project deliverables whilst achieving stakeholders’ outcomes. Mark has substantial experience in Graphic Design and application to presentation techniques for urban design plans, reporting, display and presentation uses.


LUKE MONTGOMERY  |  Senior Associate, Statutory & Strategic Planner

Luke has over 15 year’s experience with Local Government and private consultancy in both a town planning and project management capacity. Luke has broad expertise in all areas of planning focussing on large land developments covering structure and master planning, statutory planning, project co-ordination and negotiation.  He has a strong reputation for project coordination and managing multi-disciplinary teams, which cover a wide range of issues.
