Eric loves that as an urban planner, no two days are the same. He feels privileged to have a responsibility in collaborating with developers, community and Government to lay the foundations in which human life can thrive.
Eric is a rare breed of professional that is talented in both areas of urban design and statutory planning. He works with his clients to help them realise significant value, progressing projects from concept design through to negotiating with Approval Authorities. He applies his intimate understanding of policy and design aspects to deliver the best outcomes on projects.
Following 13 years in private practice, Eric joined the team at TBB in June 2021. Eric was originally trained in building design, being one of the last classes in 2006 to be taught hand-drawn perspective and drawing techniques, before Building Design courses went ‘digital only’. Following the award of a scholarship in 2007, Eric completed his Diploma of Building Design and went on to design and draft for the planning industry while completing his planning studies in the background. In 2014, Eric obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Urban and Regional Planning) with First Class Honours from Curtin University. Since then he has gone on to achieve further credentials in street design and urban design, and has a plethora of academic awards to his name.
Eric’s memorable projects so far in his career include the Mint and Archer Street Concept Design for the Town of Victoria Park; Bletchley Park for Urban Quarter; Vivente for Richard Noble and Street Design Technical Paper and Presentation/s for the Institute of Public Works and Engineering and Cycling Walking Australia New Zealand.
I take great inspiration from the West Australian doyens of the planning industry that were active in the 1990s, who used their persuasive abilities in reorientating ordinary practice to aim at a specific liveable urban form.
