Karen enjoys working on challenging and diverse projects to deliver great outcomes on the ground for her clients and the community.

Karen works collaboratively with clients to create, innovate and guide a range of statutory and strategic planning and engagement tasks in Perth and the regions. She helps them achieve viable and beneficial outcomes through collaboration and by streamlining planning processes and approvals wherever possible.

Karen has over 38 years of planning experience. She completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Town and Country Planning at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh and is a Registered Member of Planning Institute of Australia. Karen has been a specialist member of the Development Assessment Panel in WA since 2011 and provides planning advice to the DevelopmentWA Land Redevelopment Committees. Karen is an active member of the State Design Review Panel and Chair of the City of South Perth Design Review Panel. Karen is also an enthusiastic member of the Property Council WA Cities and Emerging Precincts Committee.

With an IAP2 Advanced Certificate in Engagement, Karen enjoys leading community and stakeholder engagement processes. She is strong advocate for the important role that engagement plays in the delivery of successful community and placemaking outcomes. Her background in economic development also provides valuable experience in sustainable place activation.

Karen was born and educated in the UK and worked in public and private sector for 11 years on projects throughout the UK before moving to Perth in 1993. Since moving to Perth she has worked for the last 28 years for a range of State Government agencies and private consultancies.

Her memorable projects include planning areas of Milton Keynes New Town and parts of London and Cardiff Docklands regeneration in the UK and Subi Centro redevelopment in Perth. She is also looking forward to watching current projects about to be implemented like Ocean Reef Marina in Joondalup and Redcliffe Station Precinct in Belmont.

I help to create vibrant and sustainable communities that improve quality of life and provide a great sense of place.
