15 years on from our work on the Claremont Town Centre our team prepared the Local Planning Strategy and Precinct Plan for Town of Claremont.
The Goal
This strategic planning project included community visioning and engagement, and analysis of local character, development opportunities, infrastructure demand, economic development opportunities and environmental sustainability.
Our Role
TBB was engaged to prepare a Local Planning Strategy and Precinct Structure Plan for the Town of Claremont’s municipal area, inclusive of a review of background strategic work and analysis, stakeholder and community engagement and the drafting and presentation to the Council and the Western Australian planning Commission (WAPC).
TBB developed a strong understanding of community and stakeholder attitudes, values and concerns and recognised the need for positive engagement and stakeholder management as critical components in the preparation of the Town’s Local Planning Strategy and Precinct Structure Plan. TBB ensured the community was engaged early in the life of the project at the strategic phase to provide a wider scope for contribution and the opportunity for the community and stakeholders to give life to the project.
The Outcome
TBB has undertaken community surveys and community visioning workshops to inform the Draft LPS and PSP in addition to undertaking more detailed one-on-one consultation with key major
landowners to understand specific opportunities and issues. The Draft PSP will be used to guide land use and development in the assessment of subdivision and/or development applications within the Precinct.
The Draft Precinct Structure Plan was presented to Council for consideration for advertising in March 2022.
The Draft Local Planning Strategy was presented to Council for consideration for advertising in June 2022.
