GreenView at Karlkurla is a vibrant and modern residential estate in Kalgoorlie being delivered by DevelopmentWA.

The Goal

The goal was to prepare structure plan that would deliver a high standard of development within the Hannans and Karlkurla localities in the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The structure plan covers an extensive to deliver long-term housing opportunities. It also needed to coordinate development alongside the closure of two golf courses and the redevelopment of the Kalgoorlie Golf Course.

The estate is designed into neighbourhoods that address the high amenity of the golf course, and will deliver high quality design, built form and streetscapes.
Staged subdivision has been required to address bushfire risks associated with the natural landscape, and has been sensitive to the local cultures of the area.

DevelopmentWA ensures a high standard of housing quality through approved local development plans and estate design guidelines.

Our Role

Taylor Burrell Barnett has been instrumental in early design workshop processes prior to preparing the original structure plan circa 2003 and revisions in 2009/2010.

In 2024, TBB submitted an amendment to the structure plan to deliver a range of lot sizes to suit first homebuyers, families and downsizers.

The design of the estate is responsive to the arid conditions of the Kalgoorlie area, aiming to deliver appropriate housing that is sustainable and resilient to the climate; and facilitate overland flow paths for capturing stormwater for irrigation in the golf course. TBB helped to prepare street names.

In the last five years, TBB has obtained several subdivision approvals for residential lots. There is sufficient land available to continue to provide a steady supply of residential land for future residents.

Key Outcomes

DevelopmentWA has been able to respond to the cyclical nature of housing pressures within Kalgoorlie, with TBB coordinating timely approvals for subdivisions and local development plans.
