Burswood Station East Precinct Masterplan

Imagine a new Precinct or urban life just a short distance from the heart of Perth, adjacent the Swan River, a place for all ages, incomes and lifestyles, where areas of lively activity incorporate opportunities for employment and relaxation. A bold community, self contained, yet seamlessly integrated with its immediate surrounds.

Prepared on behalf of the Town of Victoria Park, the Burswood Station east Master Plan establishes a collective vision for future urban regeneration of this uniquely positioned, highly underutilised light industrial area, as a vibrant and attractive, transit-orientated, mixed-use inner-city precinct, focused around an activated town square as the key community gathering space and beating heart of the development.

As lead consultant, Taylor Burrell Barnett was instrumental in developing and then coordinating a process that involved a select team of industry leaders undertaking a thorough site analysis of the precinct, prior to participating in a series of design workshops where the vision for the precinct evolved through continuous testing.

Specifically prepared to provide flexibility for future detailed planning and development (in terms of activities, built form architecture and public realm design), the Master Plan focuses on establishing a robust urban structure, inclusive of recommended built form scale, public realm interfaces and land use configuration arranged to ensure the best outcomes for residents, workers and visitors alike.

Importantly the Master Plan doesn’t just produce a pretty picture of how things might become, but includes a recommended Action Plan as a broad Implementation Strategy for turning the vision into reality.
